  1. There is nothing that I wish I had never learned about teaching. However this list is more like a list of advice I was given as a beginning teacher in the 80's. The stay in the seat worked in the 50s-60s. However, the more tech savvy our students become, the more we have to change how we view the way our classroom should run. I use to hate lots of noise and movement in my class. CMP has made me analyze how I think my class should look and how my students relate to me and each other.

Teaching is not what it used to be. And to that I say THANK GOD!!!!!

  2. I'm with Lynda! These do seem like the things I learned when I student taught back in 19--. I think I finally "get" that students do NOT have to always be quiet and do NOT have to always be in their seats. To be honest, my fine principal has helped me see the light on some of these issues. I wish I had never learned that things must have a "number grade", and that executive skills should be included in that grading process. Thank goodness, I am learning and loving Standards Based Grading and I am so much more open to new ideas now in my ripened age.
